Tips for Understanding Real Olive Oil

Freezing Test: When you put real and high-quality olive oil in the freezer or freezer, it has a crystallized structure. For this reason, you can put some of the olive oil you purchased in a glass plate or glass cup and leave it in the freezer for a while. When you take it out of the freezer, if the olive oil in the glass or plate has frozen and crystallized, it is real and additive-free olive oil. However, if some of the olive oil in the glass is frozen and some remains liquid, the olive oil you purchased may be fake.

Water Test: Another method you can use to test olive oil practically is the water test. You can add a few drops of the olive oil you want to test into a glass of warm water. If the olive oil you drop into the glass full of water bubbles and stays on the surface of the water, we can say that it is real olive oil. If the olive oil you tested is fake or contains additives, the oil will stay on the surface of the water in some form for a while and then mix with the water.

Tasting Test: You can easily understand whether the olive oil you purchased is real or not by tasting it with a teaspoon. When you take a small amount to taste real olive oil, it is normal to feel a slight burning sensation in your throat, and this indicates that the olive oil you are tasting may be genuine. If the olive oil you are tasting does not burn your throat, it is most likely not genuine olive oil.

Smell Test: If you smell the olive oil you purchased and you smell something close to fruit, you can understand that the olive oil you are testing is genuine. In other words, when you smell the olive oil, you should smell olives. The smell of fake olive oils resembles the smell of a chemical paint. This shows that the olive oil in question has been oxidized by adding chemicals to it.
